Birmingham Metro South Duals Middle School Tournament 01/12/2008

Wow - what a day! The Metro Duals this year split the competing teams into four groups:

• "Blue" Pool - Bumpus, Clay/Chalkville, and Simmons (a no-show) - wrestled on Mat 1,
• "Black" Pool - Pizitz, Homewood, and Berry - competed on Mat 2,
• "Silver" Pool - Oak Mountain, Thompson, and Team "X" [a mix of wrestlers from all competing teams] - got to grapplin' on Mat 3, and
• "White" Pool - Hewitt-Trussville, Mountain Brook, and Riverchase - got busy on Mat 4.

During the preliminary rounds, we won our "Silver" pool beating Oak Mountain 39 to 33, and topping Team X 72 to 4.

The championship rounds paired us first with Mountain Brook, who came in 2nd place in their pool with Hewitt-Trussville and Riverchase. Like a hot knife through butter, we cut through Mountain Brook 68 to 9. Next we wrestled Clay/Chalkville who were riding a high from beating Pizitz. The second round match with Clay/Chalkville proved to be no problem for our boys in black and red! We won 43 to 27.

The last round loomed and wouldn't you know it? We faced Oak Mountain again and we won, 48-33! Here are the individual results from those matches:
