TMS and THS Parent Info Meeting

On Monday, October 8, 2007, the Annual Parent Information Meeting will take place in the THS Library at 6:30pm - SHARP!

There will be a season schedule available for everyone at this meeting.

One notable item on the schedule is the Red

This meeting is for both the Middle School and High School parents. Please make every effort to attend and learn about the plans for the season.

TMS and THS Wrestling Sign-up

School Wrestling sign-ups begin October 1st.

All wrestlers -- new, old, purple, gold -- MUST fill out a registration form.

Where are these allusive forms? Players need to listen to their respective school's daily announcements regarding wrestling sign-up. In addition to school announcements, there also will be signs posted at each school. Listen and watch for it!

PARENTS! Please make sure that your child picks up a registration form and returns it to you as soon as possible. After completing the form, give it to your always-disciplined and never-forgetful child to return it to one of the coaches. -OR- You can bring your completed form to the Parent's Meeting on October 8th.

THS Wrestling Registration Begins October 1, 2007

All wrestlers and potential wrestlers are required to fill out registration forms. These forms can be picked up at school - just listen for announcements and look for posters.

Completed paperwork must be either handed in at the Parent's Meeting or turned in to one of the coaches, Coach Weltzin, Coach Ward, or Coach Roberson.

Official Wrestling Practice Begins October 29, 2007

The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA - otherwise known as 'The Organization That Must Be Obeyed') require all athletes must undergo a physical before participation in ANY practices. This rule is for ALL grapplers and potential grapplers.

The bottom line? If you wanna wrestle, you must have a physical and then you must turn in the completed form from your physical to a coach BEFORE you can attend practice.

Coach Weltzin will offer physicals at the school (TMS?). ... More information is forthcoming. Keep checking back!

Well over twenty Jefferson and Shelby county teams fought for the top spots in this double elimination tournament. All rounds were based off the 32-man bracket.

On Friday evening, McAdory High School's small gym was packed to the mat. Running three mats, two of twelve rounds were completed.

From 9am to about 9pm on Saturday, Rounds 3 through 12 finished up the tourney. After the dust settled, there were only two Thompson Middle School Team Champions left: 85# Cody Albarado and #112 Josh Gillaspie.

Cody fought hard to win first place in the 85-pound class and Josh wrangled through six matches to earn third place in the 112-pound class.

    CONGRATULATIONS CODY AND JOSH!

At the end of the tournament, Cody won the Most Outstanding Wrestler trophy - way to go Cody!

Our 119# Team Champion, Nick Gentile, was injured during a nail-biting bout. After getting bandaged up at the ER, he came back to check on his team. What a trooper! GET WELL NICK! We're praying for you!
