Alabaster Youth Wrestling Association (AYWA) Officers

President - Norman Latona
norman The president's responsibilities will include but are not limited to overseeing and coordinating the operation of the league. He will chair all meetings and call for votes of approval on issues, in addition to serving as accountability for the treasurer and approving all items on the league website. He will delegate authority, assign specific functions and create special committees as needed. The president of AYWA must have a vision of the long term goals of the program.

glenn Vice President of Wrestling Operations - Glenn Albarado
The Wrestling Operations VP's responsibilities will include but are not limited to overseeing and coordinating the wrestling program for AYWA. He will serve as head coach and train and oversee all assistant coaches. He will delegate authority and assign specific functions to assistant coaches.

Vice President of Administration - Scott Gilson
The VP of Administration will assist the president in his duties and will assume the president's responsibilities in his absence. The vice president will also offer accountability for the treasurer.
 


Secretary - Heather Kennemer
The secretary will prepare minutes of all league meetings and distribute them to all members. She will prepare, maintain and distribute a current directory of names, addresses and phone numbers of all league members, coaches and wrestlers. The secretary will schedule registration dates and assist treasurer with collecting funds and forms for league registration. The secretary will need to maintain medical release forms and birth certificates (if needed) on all wrestlers.
 


Treasurer - Heather Kennemer
The treasurer will collect, disburse and maintain records of all financial transactions of the league. He will account for all receipts and disbursements and make these records available when requested by the league officers. The treasurer will assist with registration scheduling and collecting fees for league registration.

 


Membership Chair - Michelle Albarado
The director of membership will consult with and assist the league president and deal with day to day issues during wrestling season. She will serve as a liaison between parents and the coaching staff and will have a dotted line to all committees.
 


glenn Fundraising Chair - Glenn Albarado
The Fundraising Chairman schedules and oversees all fundraising activities.

Advertising and Marketing Chair - (Open)
Oversees and plans all advertisements and marketing strategies for the league.
 


Warrior Wrestling Complex Facility Chair - Michelle Albarado
Assistant Chair - Angela Gillaspie
Requests volunteers to assist in overseeing the facility Member Help Desk, running the concession (kitchen), dealing with access issues (keys) and setting and enforcing rules and regulations
 


Equipment and Facilities Chair - Paul McCarthy
Oversees the set up and take down of facilities and is responsible for the ordering and maintaining of all league equipment including but not limited to mats, pads, singlets and headgear.

  • Tournament. Head: Charlotte Gillliand. Organizes the AYWA tournament (tentatively scheduled for 2/2/08)
  • Membership. Head: Michelle Albarado. Organizes membership campaigns, gets USA cards, merchandising of team clothing, etc.

  • Team Moms. Shannon Latona and Heather Kennemer. Organizes the year-end party.

Webmaster - Angela Gillaspie
The webmaster is responsible for designing, coding, and maintaining the league website and obtaining approval from the league president on all website content, graphics, and programming.

Head Team Parent - Shannon Latona
The Head Team Parent assigns a team parent for each age group (Bantam, Midget, Novice, and School Boy) to assist in contacting wrestlers and parents when there's a change of schedule, picture day, cancellations, etc. The Head Team Parent is responsible for organizing the end-of-season party which should take place within a week of the season ending. The end-of-season party awards wrestlers and should recognize coaches. The president and vice presidents need to be notified of the date of the party. Lastly, the Head Team Parent must notify the president and vice presidents about any concerns or questions the parents or wrestlers may have.

Directions to the NEW Warrior Wrestling Complex: Take Highway 31 South toward Calera, past Saginaw Pipe Company on right. You will see Bellsouth on the left, after passing Bellsouth, turn left the Southeastern Pond Management building area. The new complex is directly behind the Southeastern Pond Management building.
