Alabaster Youth Wrestling Association (AYWA)

Alabaster Youth Wrestling Association is a non-profit organization created to teach the art of wrestling to the 5- to 18-year-old youth in and around the Alabaster, Alabama area.

Our Mission

Our mission is not only to teach wrestling skills, but to minister to the heart and mind. Click over to our Mission Page for a more detailed description of what we're all about.

Our Program

The AYWA program challenges the systems of the body, especially the cardiovascular, muscular and skeletal systems. We advise that if your child has any physical ailment, is taking medication or is otherwise not in excellent physical condition suitable for strenuous activity, their participation may be injurious to them.

AYWA goes all-out to create a safe and fun environment for our fans and to develop young upcoming athletes as wrestlers. AYWA also helps those parents that volunteered as coaches, team parents, officials and staff members an unhindered opportunity to manage a successful program.

For the most part, AYWA never has direct responsibility for chaperoning the conduct of youth participants during its events. AYWA relies on coaches, parents and chaperones to ensure that every young wrestler attending an AYWA-sponsored event is safe and is aware of the sanctions for misbehavior. Coaches, chaperones and parents bear the responsibility for giving youth wrestling participants the rules of behavior and their sanctions - failure to share this information does not excuse any inappropriate behavior on the part of youth wrestlers nor does it affect AYWA's ability to hand out sanctions.

  • Vice President of Administration - Scott Gilson
