Summer Lifting

The Summer Lifting program for THS Warrior Wrestlers has begun. Currently we meet each Tuesday at 5pm at The Complex for lifting and we'll meet each Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday to wrestle from 6-8pm.

Summer Wrestling Camps

High school wrestlers must attend at least TWO (2) of the following camps, and the middle school wrestlers must attend at least ONE (1) of these camps. The following camps will be held at the Complex this spring and summer.

  1. Camp Jacob - from May 31 to June 3. Info here
  2. Middle School Higher Calling Wrestling Camp - from June 5 to 8 in Cleveland, TN. For additional information, visit our HCWC page. Also, go to HigherCallingWrestling.com to register before June 9.
  3. Virginia Tech State Champ Boot Camp - from June 24 to 25. Register by June 9th. Additional info is here
  4. TJ Sayers Camp - for middle and high school wrestlers is from July 7 to 12 at The Complex. Information is here
  5. High School Higher Calling Wrestling Camp - from July 13 to 17 in Cleveland, TN. For additional information, visit our HCWC page. Go to HigherCallingWrestling.com to register before June 30.

Team Alabama Camps

In preparation for the USA Wrestling Southeast Regionals, to be held in Atlanta on May the 23rd and 24th, Team Alabama is proud to announce the following events:
  1. May 3, 2008 - Alabaster Freestyle/Greco Challenge. Free with a USA Wrestling Card. Held at The Complex.
  2. May 10, 2008. Free with USA Wrestling Card.
  3. Team Alabama Olympic Camp.
    Dates: May 16 - 20.
    Head Clinicians: Barry Davis and Damir Zakhartdinov.
    • Coach Barry Davis is the head coach at the University of Wisconsin. He was a Silver Medalist in the 1984 Olympics and was a 4-time All-American and 3-time NCAA Champion while wrestling for Dan Gable at Iowa.
    • Coach Damir Zakhartdinov is from Uzbekistan and was a 4th place finisher at the 2000 Olympics. He lost in the Bronze Medal match 3-2 to Terry Brands.
    Other Clinicians: Terry Allison, Rod Gaddy, and Glenn Albarado.
    • Coach Terry Allison is currently ranked 8th on the United States Greco Olympic ladder.
    • Coach Rod Gaddy is Head Coach at Alabama Wrestling Club.
    • Coacn Glenn Albarado is the Head Coach of Alabaster Youth Wrestling Association.
    About: this is a Freestyle/Greco Clinic to help Team Alabama wrestlers prepare for the Southeastern Regionals. The first two days will be at the Complex and the remaining time will be at the *Alabama Wrestling Club facilities. (*Click here for directions.)
    Schedule
    • Friday, May 16th at AYWA Warrior Wrestling Complex:
      Registration from 4:30 to 5:30pm
      Clinic Starts at 5:30 to 7:30 pm
    • Saturday, May 17th - 9am till noon and 1 to 4pm at AYWA Warrior Wrestling Complex
    • Sunday, May 18th - 2 to 4pm at Alabama Wrestling Club
    • Monday, May 19th - 6 to 8pm at Alabama Wrestling Club
    • Tuesday, May 20th - 6 to 8pm at Alabama Wrestling Club
    • Wednesday, May 21st - 6 to 8pm at Alabama Wrestling Club
    The cost for all 5 days of training is as follows: (all proceeds go to benefit Team Alabama)
    • $25 if you are signed-up to wrestle at Southeast Regionals.
    • $55 if you are not signed-up to attend the Southeast Regionals.
    5 Days of Training with 2 different Olympians would normally cost you $300 or more.
    This great training opportunity is being offered exclusively by Team Alabama/USA Wrestling.
  4. Freestyle/Greco Southeast Regional Championships.
    Dates: May 23 - 25.
    About: USA Wrestling is hosting the Freestyle/Greco Southeast Regional Championships in Atlanta, GA. Over the past four (4) years, Team Alabama has taken around 50 wrestlers to this tournament. Our goal this year is to bring 100 wrestlers. Join Team Alabama in representing our State in Atlanta! Click here for more info.
