Head Clinician is Kevin Black. He's a 4-time State Champion (Wisconsin) and his record is 160-0. In addition, he's one of NCAA's All-American and a Team USA Coach.

• Adults get in for $3 per person and children are $1 each.

• Optional Friday night weigh-in offered from 6-7:30pm at Southside High School.

The tournament will be run using TrackWrestling.com software. Each wrestler must be registered online at www.Trackwrestling.com. This may either be done as a group or individually by each wrestler's parent. However, if done individually, be sure each wrestler on a team is using the same Team Name (e.g., Vestavia Youth Wrestling).

Registration

• Online pre-registration and payment through TrackWrestling.com is required for the Alabama Youth State Tournament (which will serve as the Team Alabama Qualifier for youth divisions).
• Registration will open Thursday, January 24 and close Monday, February 4 at 12:00am midnight. No exceptions.
• Registration fee is $15 per wrestler.
• Wrestlers can only wrestle their appropriate age and one weight in the Alabama Youth State Tournament.
• Participants must be residents of the State of Alabama.
• Weight classes must be declared at the time of registration.
• The Alabama Youth State Tournament will serve as the Team Alabama Qualifier for youth divisions.

Information:

• Concession stand will be available. No coolers will be allowed.
• Admission for the Alabama Youth State Tournament is $5.00 adult and $2.00 for kids, all sessions.
• Finals will be run on 4 mats, one mat per age group.
• Hospitality room will be available for coaches and officials only.
• Seeding
  • The preliminary seeding based upon the results in TrackWrestling will be sent via email to all head coaches by Wednesday, February 6th at 5:00pm for your review and comments. All comments must be received by Friday, February 8th at 12:00pm noon via email. Please send all comments to David Myers at (hendersonmyers.com)
  • Final seeding based upon comments and feedback will be email to all coaches by Tuesday, February 12.
  • Seeding will be determined by true tournament results from this year. If a wrestler chooses to wrestle a different weight class than he/she has wrestled all year, the wrestler will not be seeded.
  • In the event there needs to be an actual in person seeding meeting, it will be held on Sunday, February 10th, at Pizitz Middle School at 2:00pm. An email will be sent on Saturday to confirm or cancel this meeting. This meeting will be for Coaches only! Hopefully we can handle seeding via email and phone calls.
• Due to some of the challenges we had last year, all weigh-ins will be the day before or 2-1/2 hours before wrestling starts and will end at the designated time (no exceptions). Weigh-in times will be posted with the final schedule. If a wrestler does not make the weight for which he registered, there will be a $100 re-bracketing fee charged for placement into a different weight class. Yes, that is - $100 - one hundred dollars - to re-bracket an over-weight wrestler. Coaches please help us and make sure your kids make weight. This is the biggest risk we have in delaying the tournament times and causing bracketing problems. Thanks in advance for your cooperation in this matter!

• This Year, unlike years past there will not be a Team Alabama Qualifier for Middleschool, Novice, Midget, and Bantam, The Qualifier is the USAW State Tournament that is at Vestavia on February 15th and 16th.
• TEAM ALABAMA will be taking two full teams due to the increased level of competition in our state.
• USAWrestling Membership is required to compete in this event. Membership can be purchased online at TheMat.com.

STYLE AND FORMAT:

• All age divisions will compete under USAWrestling scholastic folkstyle rules.
• Day One = Dual Meet Round Robin (DMRR) format of all available teams within each age division
• Day Two = Continue DMRR to determine best dual record teams and best dual record individuals

WEIGH-IN AND RESERVATION

• Weigh-Ins are on Friday, March 14, 2008 from 5:00pm-9:00pm
• A non-refundable $100 team deposit for reservation is required by February 29.

• Trophies awarded for the top 2 teams and 1 or 2 trophies per coach, per division.
• Limit of 2 coaches per age group (up to 10 per team with 5 age groups/divisions).
