- Take I-65 NORTH to I-459.
- From I-65, take exit #250 onto I-459 NORTH toward US-280/Atlanta/Gadsden.
- From I-459, take exit #33B onto I-59 NORTH toward Gadsden.
- On I-59 NORTH, travel to exit #141 (Trussville-Pinson exit).
- On the I-59 exit ramp, turn RIGHT.
- Go approximately 1/4 mile and look for a Wendy's Hamburgers restaurant on your LEFT. The next road on the LEFT is Green Drive; turn LEFT onto Green Drive.

2007 Jefferson County Wrestling Championships

Tournament Info:

We will be leaving school at 2:05pm on Friday, January 19^th to carpool over to McAdory High, so this means that the boys will be checked out from school.
Admission is $5 per session, 1 session Friday night, 2 sessions Saturday
Double elimination format, 16- or 32-man bracket as needed. All rounds will be based off the 32-man bracket. For example, Round 1 will be the 32-man championship prelims-pigtails. Round 2 will be the 32-man consolation prelims-pigtails. Weights with 16 or fewer wrestlers will not wrestle until Round 3 championship prelims.
Awards: first through fourth place individual awards that will be awarded between weight classes. Each member (14 wrestlers) of the Team Champions will receive a team champions medal. Most Outstanding Wrestler, Best Match from Finals, Fastest Fall, Most Falls. Team first through fourth place and Sportsmanship Award.
The Hospitality Room will be available for coaches and their families and officials as well as tournament workers.
Only participating wrestlers, mat girls and cheerleaders in uniform and coaches will receive passes. ALL OTHERS MUST PAY.
No food or drink in gym. You will be asked to leave if you bring it in!
Parents: Although we can't eat/drink in the gym, there will be other places that we can go. It's very important to bring water/Powerade, fruit, sandwiches, and healthy snacks for your wrestler. Good nutrition keeps our wrestlers healthy! Use our Wrestling Nutrition page for ideas and tips.

Saturday, 12/09/06:

We will leave Thompson Middle School at 7:30am, so please arrive at approximately 7:15am.
Wrestlers, don't eat breakfast! Weigh-in will take place as soon as we get to Homewood Middle School. After you weigh in, you can eat breakfast.
Bring water/Powerade, fruit, sandwiches, and healthy snacks. This is an all-day event, so parents need to pack food ... and pack it wisely. Using our Wrestling Nutrition page, here are some ideas and tips:
- Breakfast. Pack something like orange juice and a bagel with jam, or cereal (not that sugary stuff) and milk with a banana, or pancakes with syrup with 100% fruit juice and milk.
- Lunch. Bring a turkey sandwich, peanut butter and banana sandwich, peanut butter and jelly sandwich - you get the idea with yogurt, fruit, 100% fruit juice.
- Healthy snacks. Munch on dry cereal, bagels, raisins, grapes, graham crackers, fruit, oatmeal/breakfast bars, health bars, energy bars, veggies, pretzels, peanut butter, etc.
- Drinks. Extra water and Gatorade/Powerade/whatever
- What should the wrestler bring? His wrestling bag containing: wrestling shoes, spare socks, running shoes, singlet, headgear, warm-up suit, hand towel, deodorant, mouthguard, etc., also there's that pesky homework you could bring along.

From I-65 South, take the second Oxmoor Road exit and bear to your right to go back under the Interstate. At the second light turn left on Green Springs Highway. At the second light, turn right on Valley Avenue. After about 3/4 of a mile you will see Homewood Middle School on the right.

Contact Pelham Wrestling if you cannot attend -- you can enter your wrestlers' information on the Pelham Wrestling website. Brackets will be drawn up on the computer Thursday night, and posted on the Pelham Wrestling website Friday morning.

There is an entry fee of $6.00 per wrestler. Make checks payable to Pelham High School.
Double-elimination tournament.
Passes:
- One-Day Friday: $10 adults and $5 children/students
- One-Day Saturday: Saturday $15, $5 children/students
- Tournament pass: $20 adults, $10 children/students
- Children under age 5 admitted free with parents.

Food, food, food - nag, nag, nag:
- On both Friday and Saturday, your wrestler won't be able to eat until he has weighed in. And while we appreciate the concession stand, our wrestlers need to eat HEALTHY food and avoid the empty calories of candy bars, soft drinks, and hotdogs. Healthy foods are cheaper too!
- Ideas: Bring water/Powerade, fruit (sliced for easy eating), sandwiches, nuts, and other healthy snacks. For ideas and tips use our Wrestling Nutrition page.
- Why all this nagging about healthy food? Well, for one, it's what is best for your child. He is building muscle and strength and he requires a healthy diet and rest. Besides, if Coach Weltzin catches a wrestler eating a candy bar, it won't be a pretty sight.
Friday: We need volunteer drivers - please come to the TMS front parking lot at 2:45pm, Friday 12/16/06 to carpool to Pelham. We will leave TMS promptly at 3:05pm. It's important that we travel as a team.
Saturday: I'm not really sure, but this is what I heard - we may have to meet at TMS at 6:30am since weigh-in is 7:15 to 8am. Keep your ears open for the right times!
